Do ChecksForFree personal checks tear from the side?All personal checks available on ChecksForFree.com tear from the top. Our current offering of personal check pads are bound at the top rather than the side.How many personal checks come in a box?There are two types of personal checks offered on ChecksForFree.com: Basic Personal Checks and Standard Personal Checks.ChecksForFree Basic Checks1 pack of basic single checks is one pad of 30 checks and 8 deposit slips. 1 pack of basic duplicate checks is 2 pads of 18 checks and 4 deposit slips per pad: totaling 2 pads, 36 duplicate checks, and 8 deposit slips.ChecksForFree Standard Checks1 pack of standard single checks is 3 pads of 30 checks and 6 deposit slips per pad: totaling 3 pads, 90 single checks, and 18 deposit slips. 1 pack of standard duplicate checks is 5 pads of 18 checks and 3 deposit slips per pad: totaling 5 pads, 90 duplicate checks, and 15 deposit slips.What is the difference between single and duplicate checks?Duplicate checks have a carbonless copy of each check attached to the back. Duplicate checks give you the ability to reference a check you have already written.Why isn't the carbonless duplicate easy to read?To make the strongest impression on the carbonless duplicate of the check, we recommend using firm pressure on a medium ball point or gel ink roller ball pen. Gel Ink Pens, like the Pilot G-2 0.38 Premium Gel Roller, Uniball 207 Gel Pen or the Sharpie S-Gel are recommended to help prevent check fraud like check washing Soft tips, marker tips, fine or super fine tips, aren't recommended for duplicate checks and they don't provide enough pressure or wide enough pen strokes to transfer well onto the duplicate.Are your checks printed on recycled paper?The paper we use for printing does not currently meet the standard to be called “Recycled”. While a small percentage of the paper is recycled, our experience with recycled paper has not been good. When we have used recycled paper in the past, we had problems with the checks not meeting bank standards for “paper quality.” We do send our spoilage to be recycledAre your checks different from the banks?The only difference in ordering checks with ChecksForFree and the bank is pricing! You save over 50% by ordering your checks from ChecksForFree compared to pricing at your local bank or credit union.
What checks are free?Three (3) designs in our Personal Basic Checks are free for the price of the checks. All you pay are the shipping charges and any upgrades that you select for your order. Applicable tax will be charged for all product upgrades, and, where required, shipping charges.What is considered an upgrade on my order?Some font choices, adding a symbol or monogram, adding a custom message, or, for business checks, the addition of a logo would incur additional charges to add to all personal and bussiness checks.Do I get the same low price if I reorder?We do our best to keep our prices low and pass along as much savings as possible to you, our customer. We can’t guarantee that you will see the same price with every reorder, but ChecksforFree is committed to providing the best value available for personal and business checks.Is there a Handling Fee?No. ChecksforFree does not charge a separate handling fee for your order of checks.
What payment methods do you accept?We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Do you accept ACH Payments?Unfortunately, we aren’t able to accept ACH payments (auto-deduct from checking account).How many lines and characters are available for my personalization?
Checks - may have a maximum of 5 lines with up to 35 characters per line.
Deposit Slips- Business Size may have a maximum of 2 lines with up to 35 characters per line. Personal size may have a maximum of 5 lines with up to 35 characters per line.
Important: We do not correct the personalization you input into the online form, including spelling, capitalization, and spacing. Please double check the information you provide to ensure its accuracy and desired format.
Can I start my checks with the sequence number I want?Yes, you may start your checks at any sequence number you want. For Personal size checks, we recommend a limit of 4 digits on your sequence number since the MICR line will only allow 4 digits. Leading zeros do not print for check numbers. We recommend starting your checks at 1000 or higher.Can I have my checks shipped to another address?Your check order is subject to verification including shipping addresses. For added security, your shipping address must match bank records. Shipping addresses must conform to USPS or FedEx address standards to ensure timely delivery. P.O. boxes may require upgraded shipping method for delivery.Do you change any information before printing?When ordering through Checksforfree.com, you are in control of what is being printed. The website does contain validation checks to make sure the information we need to print checks is correct and to help prevent fraud. However, once we receive an order, we do not make any changes to the information. On occasion our QA team will catch something that seems incorrect (e.g., a duplicate name, an obvious misspelling), and we may contact you for confirmation. To help ensure that the information you provide while entering your order, we do provide a print preview that displays the exact image that will be printed on your checks.Why is VOID showing on all the images and print preview on the website?We wanted to provide you with the best possible images to see what a design looks like and what your checks will look like with the personalization added. As a result, we made all the images as hi-res as we could. We placed the VOID watermark across the image to help prevent image sampling and tampering. The VOID watermark does not appear on the final printed checks.How long will my order take to print?Most of our check products will begin the production cycle within one (1) hour of being placed. On average, all printing, quality assurance, and shipping processes are completed within 1 to 3 business days. Please note all orders are subject to verification. If your information is not verified to be correct, or if there are questions, this will delay or cancel your order.How will I know if additional information is needed to complete my order?When placing an order, if additional information is required, we will email directly. Please check your “junk” or “spam” folders. To ensure that all order emails are delivered, please add [email protected] to your contact list.How long will it take for my check order to arrive?The following estimated time frames are for reference only. All estimates are based on timelines provided by the shipper (i.e., UPS, FedEx, UPS, etc.). Actual transit times may vary depending on ship to address and shipping method chosen during checkout. The following are delivery times for all personal check products once they leave the production facility.
First Class Mail—Allow 3 to 7 business days from ship date for order to arrive.

Temporary check or deposit from bank that has their account number in MICR line.

Can I leave the check personalization area blank?No. The ANSI Standards for checks requires that the account owner’s name and account address be in the personalization area of the check. The area cannot be left blank or include a pseudonym. Additional information, such as phone numbers, may be added. But at a minimum the bank account owner’s first and last name and the account address needs to be in the check personalization area.Where do I find my routing number?Your check routing number is located on the bottom of your check in the MICR line. Routing numbers have a total of nine numbers. If you have personal size checks, the routing number is the first set of numbers from the left side of your check in between two symbols. If you have business or laser checks, the routing number is the second set of numbers from the left side of your check in between two symbols.Can I see what my checks will look like before they print?During the ordering process, after entering the check personalization, we will show you a print preview of the check. This will show what the check will look like once printed.Why can’t I see a check preview?You may not be able to see the preview for a couple of reasons:
If your check contains a custom logo, you may not be able to see the print preview.
If the routing and account information doesn’t match the information we have on file for the financial institution, we may not be able to produce the print preview. You will receive an email in this case requesting additional information to complete your order.

During the reordering process you will be able to update your check personalization information, shipping address, and payment information. All changes will pass through our validation and fraud detection services. Orders start the manufacturing process within one (1) hour of being entered into our system, and about 95% of all orders placed will ship within one (1) day. For a full refund, an order must be cancelled before the manufacturing process begins. For all orders, once the order has shipped the price of shipping is non-refundable. Once the checks have shipped, to initiate a refund, the product must be returned to our facility. The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs. The returned items should be shipped to Checks For Free, PO Box 1088, Birmingham, AL 35201. Upon receipt of the product, the item will be inspected and any applicable refund will be issued. In most cases, all monies refunded appear to the original payment method within 24 hours. However, it may take up to a billing cycle for the credit card’s issuing bank to reflect the refund. Basic Personal Checks, aka free checks, are non-refundable. We are unable to accept returns for these items.
